It’s been a few weeks now since I finished writing the first draft of the three new books. I sent book one to Janine for a look over and then it was time to get organised for my trip to Melbourne for the KidlitVic 2017 conference. It was also time of family coming together with my sister, niece and cousins in town from Perth, me from Canberra and of course my cousins who live in Melbourne. My sister came back with me to experience autumn in Canberra. Then it was off to Sydney for a few days to catch up with daughter number one and enjoy the first night of Vivid.
We had such a good time and then there was the conference day!
What an event! It’s now time to sit down and process all I learnt at KidLitVic 2017. A lot has been written in the last week or so about this day and I had a wonderful time. It was lovely catching up with friends from last year and meeting new creatives.
I attended workshops and learnt about self-editing and school presentations. The presenters had so much knowledge and experience to share with us and there’s a lot to put into practice with my own writing. The chapter book and middle grade panel was the most valuable for me as that’s what I’m writing now. And yes … I did have a chat with the publisher I met last year!
