It is finally finished
The process of writing these new books is much harder than writing You can do it Joey!. When creating Joey it was such an organic process with no expectations on how the book would turn out and we had no idea what we were doing!
I have learnt so much in the last few years and know more about ‘the rules’ of writing children’s books and am more aware of what I’m doing. Not a bad thing … but I struggled with these books as the story is based on my stories and what ended up on the page was not what I expected.
I struggled with the word count, who would want to read these books and many other doubts until I read a quote. That went something like this:
Write the story you want to write in as many words as you need to tell the story
I can’t remember where I saw the quote but it worked for me. It took the pressure off and the books are being written!
