Here we go again! Meaghan and I are embarking on a new adventure together. My series of three chapter books tell Sophie’s story as her family moves from the country to an inner city apartment. She is anxious about making new friends in a big city school and has insecurities around wearing glasses.
These books took over eighteen months to write and the story evolved into something quite different from my original idea.
I stepped up and entered the manuscripts to a competition, booked a manuscript assessment with a publisher and submitted book one to my favourite publisher! The feedback was fabulous and it’s time to get these books finished and out into the world.
The decision to indie publish again was easy. While I would have been thrilled if a publisher had picked up the books I wanted Meaghan to be involved. The books are based on some of my experiences and I’m putting myself on the page. It’s a little scary!
We share the experience of creating You can do it Joey! and Meaghan has now worked on a number of books and we have both learnt so much.
It’s time for Meaghan to create her magic! She is illustrating book one and has books two and three!
My to-do list is massive, but as Joey’s mum says, ‘You can do it’.
