September and October have seen me show up regularly at my desk. I signed up for some online writing and marketing courses and have learnt so much.
I’m also proud that I typed ‘the end’ on two manuscripts. One is particularly satisfying as this is the story I started writing in Tuscany while on our Big Overseas Adventure. This story was long-listed in a competition and had a manuscript assessment at Writing NSW where I received great feedback on how to make this story much better. I have learnt so much and nearly twelve months since that day in Siena Library, a much-improved draft was sent out to my beta readers for feedback.
The second manuscript is totally different and tells the evolving story of how I ended up being an indie author and what I have learnt. It was an interesting process to go through as it’s nearly six years since I wrote the first draft of You can do it Joey!.
I’m also proud to be a founding member of the Story Creators Community, a new adventure with some of my writing buddies. We had our first events at local libraries and people came! Our events will be held monthly with Libraries ACT and held at libraries across Canberra. More details to come as we figure it all out.
After a family celebration with visitors from Perth I’m back at the desk with a new book idea and so many tips for marketing Sophie and myself.
